Akshay Kumar’s Horror-Comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’ Opens Advance Booking with Rs 13.84 Lakh

Mumbai: The long-awaited reunion of actor Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan is generating early interest at the box office. Their fantasy horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla began advance ticket sales on Tuesday, recording a modest but steady response ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on April 17, 2026.
According to data“, the film has sold approximately 8,068 tickets in the 2D format for its opening day, translating to an advance booking collection of Rs 13.84 lakh. When blocked seats are included, the total rises to around Rs 38.97 lakh. While the current pace remains relatively slow, industry observers note that two days remain before the release, leaving room for a potential uptick in bookings.
The project marks Priyadarshan’s return to the big screen with his frequent collaborator Akshay Kumar. The ensemble cast also features Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Manoj Joshi, with the storyline reportedly echoing the spirit of the hit horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which has heightened audience anticipation.
Post-COVID, Akshay Kumar’s films have delivered mixed results at the box office. The key question now is whether Bhooth Bangla can crack the actor’s top 10 list for opening-day advance bookings (excluding blocked seats). To achieve that, it must surpass Kesari Chapter 2, which stands at Rs 1.84 crore. For context, here is Akshay Kumar’s current top 10 post-COVID advance booking collections for day one:
- Housefull 5 – Rs 8.02 crore
- Sooryavanshi – Rs 5.35 crore
- Bade Miyan Chote Miyan – Rs 4.85 crore
- Samrat Prithviraj – Rs 4.68 crore
- Sky Force – Rs 3.82 crore
- OMG 2 – Rs 3.50 crore
- Bachchhan Paandey – Rs 3.19 crore
- Ram Setu – Rs 2.32 crore
- Raksha Bandhan – Rs 1.93 crore
- Kesari Chapter 2 – Rs 1.84 crore

A report projects that Bhooth Bangla could open between Rs 12 crore and Rs 16 crore on its first day, including Rs 2-3 crore from paid previews. Its eventual performance is expected to hinge significantly on word-of-mouth once audiences experience the film.
This collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan has long been a point of excitement for fans of their earlier successful outings. With the release just days away, early booking trends offer the first concrete indicator of audience interest in this horror-comedy venture.
