2027 SCO Summit: Pakistan Confirms Invitation Will Be Sent To PM Modi As Per Protocol

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited to Islamabad for the 2027 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Pakistan announced on Friday. According to the organization’s protocols, invitations will be sent to all members, including India.
A representative for Pakistan’s Foreign Office told the media that invitations to the summit would be sent to all heads of state and government of the SCO, which implies that India would also be invited as a member.
“The invitation is an obligation of the host country and will be issued according to the established SCO protocol,” the official added. In response to a different question on a potential meeting between Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during the ASEAN meetings in Manila, the spokeswoman stated Islamabad was not aware of any such request from New Delhi. As part of the organization’s rotational presidency and hosting procedures, Pakistan is set to host the SCO Summit in Islamabad in 2027.
China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Belarus are its ten member nations. The group was founded in Beijing on June 15, 2001, and its main goal is to advance economic growth, peace, and stability throughout the Eurasian region.
