Fire At Income tax Office In Mumbai

On Monday afternoon, according to officials, a fire started in the basement of the seven-story Income Tax Office building, Aayakar Bhavan, on Maharshi Karve Road in the Churchgate neighborhood of Mumbai. Teams are evacuating people from the building’s top floors, but no casualties or injuries have been reported thus far, they said.

Preliminary reports state that around 2:01 pm, the Mumbai fire department received a call reporting a fire in the basement of Aayakar Bhavan, which houses the Income Tax agency’s headquarters.

Several stories above the basement were affected by thick plumes of smoke that were spotted rising from the structure.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Numerous organizations raced to the scene, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), ambulance services, and civic authority representatives.

At least four fire engines and a number of other firefighting equipment were sent, according to officials, and efforts were being made to contain the fire.

The structure has seven higher stories, a ground floor, and a basement.

According to officials, no casualties or injuries have been reported thus far, but emergency personnel are evacuating people from the top floors.

A turntable ladder and an aerial ladder platform are among the specialized rescue tools that have been used to help evacuate residents from the upper stories.
