IPL 2026 Ahmedabad Traffic Advisory: Roads Closed Near Narendra Modi Stadium on Match Days

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik has issued a formal traffic notification ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) matches at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera the world’s largest cricket stadium to ensure smooth movement and security for thousands of spectators, VVIP guests, and players. The order will be in effect across all seven matches scheduled in Ahmedabad: April 4, 17, 20, 26, and 30, and May 3 and 12.

Roads Under Restriction

On each match day, the stretch from Janpath T-junction to the stadium’s main gate, continuing through Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Village T-junction, will be closed to all categories of vehicles.

Alternate Routes for Commuters

Police have designated two alternate routes to help commuters avoid congestion:

From Tapovan Circle, motorists can travel via ONGC Chaurasta, Visat T-junction, Janpath T-junction, and Power House Chaurasta to reach Prabodh Raval Circle. From Krupa Residency, vehicles can be routed through Sharan Status Chaurasta and Bhat-Koteshwar Road toward Apollo Circle.

Who Is Exempt

The notification does not apply to authorized match-related vehicles, on-duty government vehicles, or emergency services including fire brigade and ambulance units. Residents living in the restricted zones are also exempt, provided they carry valid identity documents to verify their address.

Ahmedabad Police have urged cricket fans and all road users to comply with the advisory to prevent traffic disruptions and ensure a smooth experience on match days.
