Banaskantha: A tragic road accident has struck Banaskantha district near Kharodiya Chowkadi, close to Palanpur. A passenger rickshaw coming from the Vadgam direction collided head-on with an oncoming Gujarat State Transport (ST) bus in a powerful crash. The accident claimed the lives of three people travelling in the rickshaw on the spot, while six others sustained serious injuries.
Rickshaw crushed, injured rushed to hospital via 108
The impact of the collision was so severe that the rickshaw was completely crushed. Local passersby rushed to the scene immediately to help and pulled the injured out of the wreckage. As soon as news of the accident spread, all the injured were rushed to Palanpur Civil Hospital via 108 ambulance service for emergency treatment, where some are reported to be in serious condition.
Police reach spot, investigation underway
Palanpur police rushed to the accident site as soon as they were informed. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and cleared the traffic jam that had built up on the road. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and police have launched a further legal investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
