Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s monsoon showed no signs of easing on Tuesday, with 141 talukas across the state recording rainfall of up to 2 inches. The fresh spell has pushed the state’s average seasonal rainfall to 54.28 percent. According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall remains in place across Gujarat for the coming week. South Gujarat continues to face a heightened rain threat, while the weather department has also forecast the possibility of light rainfall in central Gujarat.
Central Gujarat Receives Heavy Showers
Dahod, Panchmahal, Mahisagar, Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Surat were placed under a moderate-to-heavy rainfall alert on Tuesday. Limkheda in Dahod district recorded the day’s highest rainfall at 2 inches. This was followed by Mahemdavad in Kheda district with 1.75 inches, Amirgadh in Banaskantha district with 1.75 inches, Daskroi in Ahmedabad district with 1.55 inches, Palanpur with 1.50 inches, and Kathlal and Thasra in Kheda district, both recording 1.50 inches.
Other areas that recorded more than an inch of rainfall included Dholera-Dholka-Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad district, Nanapondha in Valsad district, Chuda in Surendranagar district, Khambhat in Anand district, Sathamba-Bayad in Aravalli district, Dang, Deesa in Banaskantha district, and Kaprada in Valsad district.
Orange Alert Issued For Panchmahal
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the coming days in Vav-Tharad, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Narmada and Tapi. An orange alert, meanwhile, has been declared for Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar.
