Ahmedabad: An incident has come to light where a team from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was attacked near Punita Nagar Railway Crossing in Jashodanagar. According to details, the AMC team had arrived to demolish an illegally constructed shop. During the operation, the team was assaulted, and the shop’s female owner attempted self-immolation by pouring kerosene on herself.
Woman Suffers Over 80% Burns, Condition Critical
Shockingly, other family members of the female shop owner also tried self-immolation. The woman sustained over 80% burns, leaving her in an extremely critical condition, which escalated the situation further. She has been rushed to the hospital for treatment via the 108 emergency service. Sources indicate that local traders organized a rally to Vatva GIDC Police Station and filed a complaint against the AMC.
Locals Raise Anti-Administration Slogans
Traders have alleged that AMC officials took bribes twice but still came to demolish their shops. In response, locals chanted slogans like “BJP, your dictatorship won’t work.” As the situation intensified, local police were informed and arrived at the scene to defuse the matter. Traders claim that bribes are openly demanded from them.

No Time Given to Remove Goods: Trader
Local traders have accused the AMC of corruption, stating that officials take money first and then proceed with demolitions. One trader said they requested time to remove goods from the shop, but officials began the demolition without granting any extension. This led the woman to attempt self-immolation, and she is now in a very delicate condition.
