Amreli: Search teams have recovered an additional fisherman’s body from the Arabian Sea near Jafarabad, bringing the total to three fatalities from a recent boating accident. The incident involved three vessels that sank, leaving 11 crew members unaccounted for initially. As of August 29, eight fishermen are still missing, with rescue operations pressing on despite challenging conditions.

The latest recovery is that of Harish Baraiya, a fisherman from the boat Jayshree, who resided in Vasi-Borsi, Jalalpur, Navsari. His body was discovered along the shoreline, casting a shadow of grief over his family. Authorities transported the remains to Jalalpur Civil Hospital for postmortem examination and formal identification.
Joint efforts by the Coast Guard and local fishermen continue to scour the area for the missing individuals. Ten additional fishing boats have now joined the operation to bolster the search. Heavy rainfall and adverse weather have complicated the recovery process, making it difficult to locate the remaining bodies.

The tragedy unfolded a few days ago when two boats from Jafarabad and one from Rajpara village in Gir Somnath sank in the sea. A total of 28 fishermen were aboard the three vessels. Rescuers managed to save 17, but 11 went missing. With three bodies now recovered, the fate of the other eight remains unknown. These back-to-back events have sparked serious concerns about maritime safety and the protection of those working at sea.
