Ahmedabad: A meeting of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Staff Selection and Appointment Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Mayor. The meeting saw several important decisions taken regarding promotions, voluntary retirement, and extension of probation periods for posts in the administrative, engineering, health and light departments. Promotion proposals for some departments, however, were deferred.
Mukesh Patel Promoted to HOD
According to the decisions taken by the committee, in the administrative cadre, Deputy HOD Mukesh B. Patel has been promoted to the post of HOD against one eligible vacancy. Separately, Assistant Manager Kalpesh Dashrathlal Patel has been promoted to the post of Deputy HOD against one vacancy.
Light and Health Department Officials Receive Promotions
In the Light, STP and Dudheshwar Water Works departments, Deputy City Engineer Vasant Babu Ninama has been approved for promotion to the newly created post of Additional Chief Engineer, created as per ratio, subject to state government approval and prescribed conditions.
In the Health department, Dr Milan H. Naik (Employee Number 70092), Deputy Health Officer for the Central Zone, had sought voluntary retirement on health and personal grounds, factoring in a three-month notice period. The committee accepted his application and approved his voluntary retirement effective after office hours on July 8, 2026.

Zoo Superintendent’s Probation Extended
Separately, an officer appointed on probation as Zoo Superintendent in the Zoo department, whose previously extended six-month probation period was set to end on February 17, 2026, has been granted a further extension from February 18, 2026, for one additional year — or until a final decision is issued on the show-cause notice served by the IR department, whichever comes earlier. The decision on the show-cause notice will be binding on the officer concerned.
Road-Building and Water Department Promotions Deferred
In addition, decisions regarding the post of Director in the Parks and Gardens department, three eligible vacancies for Deputy City Engineer in the Engineering (Road and Building) department, and 18 eligible vacancies for Deputy City Engineer in the Water Resource Management department have been deferred until the next committee meeting.
