Yash’s Toxic Gets ‘A’ Certificate: Here’s What The CBFC Clearance Reveals Ahead Of August 26 Release

Mumbai: Yash’s much awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups has officially cleared the censor process, but with an adults only rating. The Geetu Mohandas directorial has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), just days before its scheduled theatrical release on August 26, 2026.

According to the certification details, the film was cleared by the CBFC’s Bengaluru regional office on August 13. The certificate lists the Kannada version at 194.12 metres, with the certified runtime reported as 194 minutes and 12 seconds roughly 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds. That makes Toxic a notably long theatrical outing.

The ‘A’ certificate is unlikely to come as a complete surprise. The film has been presented as a dark gangster drama, with its teaser and trailer promising violence, action and mature themes. The certification now confirms that viewers will need to be adults to watch the film in theatres.

But the censor certificate has also revealed more about the story than the makers had previously disclosed. Toxic is set against the backdrop of Goa during the period when Portuguese rule was coming to an end. At the centre of the story is Raya, played by Yash, whose journey is tied to the dangerous world of crime, power, betrayal and survival.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has been one of Yash’s most closely watched projects since the success of the KGF films. Yash has also been involved in the writing and production of the movie.

The cast brings together several major names from across Indian cinema. Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth are part of the film, adding to the curiosity around its multiple characters and storylines.

The road to release has been anything but simple. Toxic has faced schedule changes and speculation about delays, but Yash recently dismissed rumours that the project had been shelved. He said the film required an extensive production process, including nearly 200 days of shooting.

Now, with the CBFC clearance in place, the focus shifts to the box office. Toxic is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on August 26, and with an adults only certificate, a runtime of more than three hours and Yash returning in a gritty gangster avatar, expectations are clearly high.

For fans who have been waiting through the film’s long production journey, the countdown has finally entered its last stage.
