After the remarkable theatrical run of Hanuman Ansh, all eyes are now on its much-awaited sequel. The film, inspired by the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba, was made on a reported budget of less than Rs 2 crore and went on to attract significant audiences at the box office. Now, questions are being raised about whether Hanuman Ansh 2 will be mounted on a much larger budget of Rs 10 to 20 crore.
Producer Anupriya Nagar, who is 21 years old, has clarified that simply increasing the budget is not the priority for the sequel. Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, she said the second instalment could be made on a budget similar to the first film unless the story genuinely requires a larger scale.
According to Nagar, spending Rs 10 crore or Rs 20 crore does not automatically make a film better. She also cautioned that a higher budget could lead to unnecessary dependence on VFX or AI-generated elements, which may not suit the story or its period setting.
Nagar further emphasised that authenticity will remain central to the franchise. The makers want to pay attention not only to the characters but also to the landscape, atmosphere and visual texture of the era being portrayed.
She also revealed that the first film was made for slightly more than Rs 1.5 crore, but remained below Rs 2 crore. The production involved three producers, with each contributing a share of the investment.
While the sequel has been confirmed, its release timeline has not yet been announced. Director Vishal Chaturvedi has another film lined up, and the team is yet to begin detailed discussions on the second instalment.
Meanwhile, the franchise has been envisioned as a trilogy, with the second part expected to explore the next phase of Neem Karoli Baba’s journey.
