Hyderabad: A promotional event for Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups took an unexpected turn on Saturday after a sound system structure collapsed at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad, leaving four people injured.
The incident happened while Yash was addressing a large gathering of fans and students at the pre release event. According to police, some attendees had climbed onto a sound or DJ speaker stand to get a better view of the stage. The structure reportedly gave way, causing people on it to fall.
Four people were injured in the incident. One student suffered a leg fracture, while the other three sustained minor injuries, police said. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The collapse briefly interrupted Yash’s interaction with the crowd. After noticing what had happened, the actor stopped speaking and asked the organisers to check on the people who had been hurt. He also appealed to fans and students to remain careful and avoid climbing onto structures around the venue.
The incident also prompted police action. Hyderabad Police have registered a case against the event manager and the management of the institution in connection with the mishap. Further details about the investigation are awaited.
Despite the accident, the event continued after the situation was brought under control. The gathering had attracted a large crowd, with fans turning up to see Yash and other members of the film’s cast.
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, stars Yash along with Nayanthara and Kiara Advani. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26, 2026, making the Hyderabad event one of its final major promotional appearances before release.
The incident has nevertheless raised questions about crowd management and safety arrangements at large promotional events, particularly when thousands of fans gather at a venue.
