Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Becomes First in History to Cross 1 Billion Views
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man isn’t in theatres yet, but the internet has already made its verdict clear. The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped on March 18, and within four days it had crossed 1.1 billion views the first movie trailer ever to hit that number, according to data from Wavemetrix as reported by Variety. In its opening 24 hours alone, it racked up 718 million views. That obliterates the previous record set by Deadpool & Wolverine, which pulled 365 million views in its first day after debuting during the 2024 Super Bowl. The numbers are hard to argue with. Fans want Holland back.
What’s the film actually about?
The trailer picks up where No Way Home left off literally. After Doctor Strange’s memory-wiping spell, the entire world has forgotten Peter Parker exists. Four years on, he’s still out there protecting New York as Spider-Man, but anonymously, and alone. MJ (Zendaya), his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), everyone he knew gone from his life, not by choice. He’s also dealing with the death of Aunt May (Marisa Tomei).
Sony’s official synopsis puts it plainly: “While investigating a series of crimes, he uncovers a larger mystery and faces the consequences of his past.”
