Mumbai Police File Massive Chargesheet in Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

Mumbai’s Bandra Police have submitted a detailed 1,000-page chargesheet to the Bandra court, advancing the case against Shariful Islam, accused of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan in January. The document, filed on Tuesday includes forensic evidence linking Islam to the attack, such as knife fragments from the crime scene, Khan’s body, and the suspect, all traced to the same weapon.
The assault occurred on January 16 at Khan’s Bandra residence, leaving the 54-year-old actor with severe injuries, including a damaged thoracic spine, after multiple stab wounds. Following emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, Khan was discharged after five days. Police arrested Islam in Thane on January 19, using CCTV and technical evidence, with the chargesheet bolstered by witness statements and fingerprints from the suspect’s left hand.
Authorities revealed Islam, who allegedly entered India from Bangladesh via Kolkata, now faces a robust prosecution case. A Mumbai Police official told that the forensic report on the knife fragments forms a cornerstone of the chargesheet, marking a critical step toward justice in this high-profile investigation.
