Govinda Calls Out Nephew Krushna’s Mimicry Days Later, Krushna Drops Fresh Govinda Impression on Kapil Show

The light-hearted yet occasionally pointed family dynamic between comedian Krushna Abhishek and his maternal uncle, Bollywood legend Govinda, continues to make headlines. Barely a few days after Govinda voiced concerns that his nephew was being used as a vehicle to mock him on television, a new video emerged of Krushna performing one of his signature Govinda impersonations.

The footage comes from a promotional segment for the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Krushna arrived dressed in classic Govinda style — a bright blue-and-orange shirt, brown trousers, orange socks, and yellow shoes. The sequence featured playful banter with host Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, and special guest Rani Mukerji, who was there to promote her upcoming film Mardaani 3 (releasing January 30).

The routine opened with Krushna doing a Shah Rukh Khan impression directed at Rani Mukerji. He delivered a Hindi one-liner about seeing only “Rani,” pulled out the queen card from a deck, and joked that he always keeps her in his pocket. After Sunil and Kiku pointed out the joke had already been done, Krushna seamlessly transitioned into his Govinda character. Picking up potatoes to peel on stage, he remarked in Hindi with perfect comic timing: “If everything has already been done, then I’ll just sit here peeling potatoes, nah.” The self-aware punchline drew hearty laughter from the entire cast.

The timing of the clip is notable because it follows Govinda’s recent interview. In it, he said he had cautioned Krushna that writers frequently prepare lines meant to take jabs at him, adding, “I told him that he is being used to insult me and told him to be cautious of this. When I warned Krushna, Sunita would get upset. Also, I don’t know when these people would get upset with each other and when they are okay with each other. I am more of a steady person.”

Krushna later responded in an interview, saying he holds deep respect and love for his uncle. “I love Govinda mama and respect him. He is a legend, and has next-level thoughts. So maybe that is the reason why he sees stuff on a different level. The same statement can look positive or sarcastic to different people, I take it in a positive way,” he explained.
