Word-Of-Mouth Miracle: Hanuman Ansh Turns Rs 1.75 Cr Budget Into Rs 175 Cr Blockbuster

In an industry dominated by big-budget spectacles and star power, Hanuman Ansh has rewritten the rules of success. Made on a shoestring budget of approximately Rs 1.75 crore, the film has crossed the Rs 175 crore mark at the box office, delivering nearly 100 times its production cost and emerging as one of 2026’s most remarkable theatrical stories.

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the devotional drama draws from the life and teachings of spiritual icon Neem Karoli Baba. It opened quietly on August 7 with a modest Rs 10 lakh on day one and struggled through its first two weeks, collecting only around Rs 1.48 crore. Screen counts dropped sharply amid competition from bigger releases like Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, at one point falling to as few as 25 screens.

Then word of mouth took over. Positive audience responses, grassroots buzz, and growing faith in the film’s message reversed its fortunes. Collections surged dramatically from the third week onward. By its sixth Friday (Day 36), Hanuman Ansh posted an impressive Rs 10.50 crore its strongest single-Friday haul yet while continuing to hold strong in theatres weeks after release.

The turnaround highlights the power of organic popularity over marketing muscle. Despite limited initial promotion and no major stars, the film expanded screens and attracted crowds through genuine audience connection. Its relentless late run, including strong numbers in later weeks, has made it a textbook sleeper hit.

Hanuman Ansh proves that compelling storytelling and cultural resonance can still triumph at the box office. In an era of franchise dominance, this low-budget miracle stands as a powerful reminder that faith, both spiritual and cinematic, can move mountains and ticket counters.
