Mumbai: Emraan Hashmi has given Awarapan fans a reason to get excited. After the release of Awarapan 2, the actor hinted that a third film in the franchise could be on the way. When fans asked him about Awarapan 3 during a theatre visit, Hashmi replied, “Hopefully, Awarapan 3 very soon.” It was only a short comment, but it was enough to get fans talking.
For now, though, Awarapan 3 has not been officially announced. There is no confirmed release date, shooting schedule or official word from the makers about the film going into production. Hashmi’s comment should therefore be seen as a hint rather than a confirmation.
The buzz around a third film comes just days after Awarapan 2 arrived in theatres. The sequel was released on August 14, 2026, nearly two decades after the first Awarapan. Hashmi returned as Shivam Pandit, the character that became one of the most memorable roles of his career.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 also features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in important roles. The film has managed to bring back the emotional and musical appeal associated with the original while introducing the story to a new generation of viewers.
The box office response has also added to the excitement. Awarapan 2 reportedly crossed the rs 50 crore mark in India within its first two days, giving the film a strong start. That kind of response could certainly make another sequel a more attractive possibility for the producers.
The original Awarapan was released in 2007. Although it did not become a major box office success at the time, the film slowly built a loyal following over the years. Its emotional story, memorable songs and Hashmi’s performance helped it develop a cult status.
That is also why the possibility of Awarapan 3 has created so much interest. Fans have been waiting for years to see what could happen next in the world of Awarapan.
At this point, the safest thing to say is that the door for Awarapan 3 appears to be open. Whether the film actually moves ahead will depend on the makers and the response to Awarapan 2.
But Hashmi’s “very soon” has certainly given fans something to hope for. After waiting 19 years for Awarapan 2, they may already be wondering could the third chapter arrive much sooner?
