Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as Rebel Kid on social media, has confirmed that she no longer lives in India and has moved to New York. In a recent podcast appearance, she explained that the relocation is primarily to pursue an MBA while seeking new experiences and a change of environment.
Mukhija said she applied to only one college in the city after falling in love with it during earlier visits. “I have travelled quite a lot, and when I landed in New York, I was like I really want to live here. There’s something about this city; it’s so fast, everyone is so well-dressed, the food is great and I love the architecture. I have seen New York in every single web series that I love, and so I always wanted to live there,” she shared.
Although living in New York had long been a personal dream, she admitted the move has left her feeling nervous. Her friends, career network and familiar surroundings remain in India, while she will now stay in a dormitory and return to student life.
She noted that part of the decision was to meet people outside the creator circle and expand her social connections. Mukhija added that her earlier confrontational online persona is behind her and that she now creates content with a clearer understanding of audience preferences. She plans to produce material from New York on her own terms and may post storytime videos less frequently than before.
On the professional front, Mukhija was last seen on the Netflix reality series Lock Upp Season 2, where she entered the house as an informant for two weeks with the task of influencing contestant dynamics. The season ended with Shreya Kalra as the winner.
The influencer has indicated that her time in New York will blend academic commitments with selective content creation as she adjusts to the new chapter.
