Alia Bhatt is set to return to the Astraverse in Brahmastra 2, but in a more limited capacity than her lead role in the 2022 original. According to recent reports, the actress will make an “extended appearance” as Isha and is expected to shoot for approximately 25 days.
The sequel, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is planned as a roughly 125-day production. While Alia has been locked in for the project, the makers are still in talks with Deepika Padukone to play Amrita, a key character teased in the first film. If Deepika comes on board, Brahmastra 2 will largely revolve around the story of Dev and Amrita.
Ranbir Kapoor, who starred as Shiva in the original, is expected to take on a dual role this time, portraying both Shiva and Dev. Sources indicate that Alia will be paired opposite Shiva, while Deepika would appear as Dev’s wife. Interestingly, reports suggest Alia is likely to share parallel lead status with Deepika in the third instalment of the franchise.
Ayan Mukerji is said to have finalised a solid script and is committed to beginning principal photography in April 2027. Ranbir is expected to wrap his commitments on Ramayana Part 2 by early 2027 before shifting focus to the sequel.
The first Brahmastra introduced audiences to a grand mythological universe blending fantasy, action, and emotion.
