Drishyam 3 Box Office: Strong Start for Ajay Devgn as Film Outpaces Pathaan

Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated thriller Drishyam: The Conclusion (also referred to as Drishyam 3) hit theatres on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and made an impressive start at the box office. The film, which brings back Devgn as the resourceful Vijay Salgaonkar, has generated significant buzz with strong advance bookings and positive early reactions.

By mid-afternoon on opening day, the movie had already collected around ₹33 crore net in India, according to trade trackers. Advance sales had crossed ₹50 crore gross (including blocked seats) across the opening weekend window, with Day 1 alone accounting for nearly ₹28 crore in pre-sales. Occupancy levels were healthy, and the film was screening across thousands of shows nationwide.

In a notable milestone, Drishyam 3 outpaced Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (2023) in ticket-sale velocity on BookMyShow, peaking at approximately 70,000 tickets sold per hour during Friday afternoon compared to Pathaan’s earlier high of 68,000. Trade analysts project a Day 1 net collection in the ₹45 to 55 crore range, which would rank among Ajay Devgn’s strongest openings and one of the bigger Hindi film starts of 2026.

Early reviews have been largely favourable. Trade expert Taran Adarsh awarded it 4.5 stars, calling it the best film in the Drishyam franchise and predicting a “box-office tsunami.” Other critics praised the performances of Devgn and Tabu, the tense narrative, and the climactic twists, though some noted it stays close to the franchise’s familiar template rather than reinventing it. Ratings generally hovered between 3 and 3.5 stars.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and others. As the concluding chapter of the Hindi Drishyam saga, it has capitalised on the franchise’s loyal following and the holiday advantage. Final Day 1 figures will firm up by evening, but the early numbers suggest a solid commercial launch.
