BTS’ Jin and Coldplay’s Chris Martin Share Heartfelt Reunion on Seoul Stage

BTS member Jin made a triumphant return to the stage, joining Coldplay for a memorable performance at their Seoul concert, marking his first live appearance since completing his mandatory military service in June 2024. The event, part of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour at Goyang Stadium, saw Jin and Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin deliver a nostalgic and emotional show, performing their collaborative hits The Astronaut and My Universe.
The concert was a significant moment for Jin, whose last performance before enlisting in 2022 was also with Coldplay in Argentina. Entering the stage with a sign reading, “Pick me please. Can I sing The Astronaut with you?” Jin prompted a warm response from Martin, who knelt and bowed to the BTS singer. Jin reciprocated the gesture, symbolizing their mutual respect. The duo’s chemistry was evident as Martin playfully introduced Coldplay as the “second-best band in the world,” humorously suggesting BTS held the top spot.
Fans, known as ARMY, were thrilled by the reunion, with social media buzzing with videos and photos of the event. The performance was a full-circle moment for Jin, who shared a lighthearted exchange with Martin, highlighting their longstanding friendship. Coldplay and BTS first collaborated in 2021 on My Universe, followed by Jin and Coldplay’s joint work on The Astronaut in 2022.
Coldplay’s Seoul shows continue on April 22, 24, and 25, before the band heads to the United States for the next leg of their tour.
