Kalyan-Shil Road Traffic Advisory: Diversions Announced Till October 31 Due To Bridge Reconstruction

Mumbai: Commuters travelling via the busy Kalyan-Shil Road will have to brace for traffic diversions and restrictions until October 31 as reconstruction work on a bridge is underway in the region. The Thane Traffic Police has issued an advisory to help motorists navigate the affected stretches and avoid congestion.

According to the official notification, the ongoing work is being carried out as part of the Dedicated Freight Corridor project under the JNPT-Vaitarana section of the Western Corridor Phase-2. The reconstruction activity is expected to impact traffic flow on key stretches of the Kalyan-Shil route.

Traffic Restrictions Announced

The advisory issued by the Thane Traffic Police states that several diversions will remain in place during the reconstruction period. Authorities have urged commuters to cooperate with officials and use the designated alternate routes to reduce delays and traffic build-up.

The work is being executed to facilitate infrastructure upgrades linked to freight corridor development. Due to the scale of construction activity, vehicular movement on parts of the Kalyan-Shil Road is likely to be affected for the next few months.

Alternate Routes For Motorists

To manage congestion, traffic police have suggested alternate routes for commuters travelling between Kalyan, Dombivli, Thane and nearby areas. Motorists have been advised to follow diversion instructions displayed on-site and use service roads or connecting internal roads wherever applicable.

Heavy vehicles, in particular, may face movement restrictions on certain stretches during the construction period. Emergency vehicles, however, will continue to receive access wherever required.

Authorities Appeal For Cooperation

Officials have appealed to residents and daily commuters to plan their journeys in advance and expect delays during peak hours. The advisory also urges motorists to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with on-ground personnel to ensure smooth movement during the bridge reconstruction work.

Earlier, similar diversions had also been implemented in the Kalyan-Shilphata region for metro and freight corridor-related infrastructure projects, according to reports by Free Press Journal and other media outlets.
