Indian Hockey Players Score 22 Goals in Two Days in China!

Mokey, China: India’s junior hockey players are making a huge impact here in Asia Cup, with the women’s team winning their quarter-final on Tuesday and the men’s team producing an even more emphatic performance. After defeating South Korea 7-3 on Tuesday, the Indian men’s team crushed Taipei 15-0 on Wednesday to book their place in the semi-finals. South Korea also advanced to the last four after beating Japan 3-2. Japan, Indonesia and Taipei have been eliminated from the semi-final race.

India are the defending champions and are once again among the favourites to lift the trophy. India have won the title five times and currently top Group A with 10 points. In the last two days, the Indian men’s team have scored a total of 22 goals. A hockey match normally consists of four 15-minute quarters, and there was not a single goal in the opening quarter against Taipei. However, India’s players completely dominated the Taipei side during the remaining 45 minutes.

Indian captain and defender Anmol Ekka scored six goals through penalty corners. The other scorers included Aryan Axes, Prabhdeep Singh, Gurusewak Singh, Arjun Santosh Hargude, Ajit Yadav and Harpal Singh.

India led 6-0 at half-time. The fifth goal scored by captain Anmol Ekka was also India’s 10th goal of the match.
