Chennai: Three legislators from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have resigned from the party and extended support to actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, adding a new dimension to the state’s political landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
According to India Today, the resignations are being viewed as a notable political gain for TVK, which has been attempting to strengthen its organisational presence across Tamil Nadu since Vijay formally entered politics.
MLAs Submit Resignations
India Today reported that the three AIADMK MLAs submitted their resignations to the party leadership before publicly announcing their support for TVK. The development has triggered political discussion within Tamil Nadu, particularly regarding the potential impact on AIADMK’s internal strength and regional influence.

The report stated that the legislators praised Vijay’s leadership and claimed they were inspired by his political vision and outreach efforts among young voters and grassroots supporters.
TVK Continues Political Expansion
Since launching TVK, Vijay has been actively building the party structure and expanding its presence across various districts in Tamil Nadu. According to India Today, the party has focused on attracting youth supporters and leaders from established political organisations.
Political observers see the entry of sitting MLAs into TVK as a sign that Vijay’s movement is beginning to gain traction beyond fan-based support networks. The development may also intensify competition among major parties ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
Political Reactions Expected
The resignations are likely to increase pressure on AIADMK leadership as the party continues to navigate internal challenges and shifting alliances within Tamil Nadu politics. India Today noted that further reactions from senior party leaders and rival political groups are expected in the coming days.
The latest move also highlights the growing attention surrounding Vijay’s political ambitions as TVK positions itself as an emerging force in the state’s evolving political environment.
