Sonu Sood Races To Nepal’s Flood-Hit Villages, Heartbroken By Orphaned Children
Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has reached Nepal to support victims of the devastating flash floods that struck the country on August 26, 2026. Triggered by a massive glacier and rock collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border, the disaster sent torrents of water, ice and debris racing down the Trishuli River, wiping out villages, bridges and hydropower projects across northern and central districts.
The human cost continues to mount. As of September 2, the death toll has climbed past 1,100, with nearly 4,000 people still missing and thousands more displaced. Entire communities in places like Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Trishuli Bazar lie buried under mud and rubble.
Sood arrived in Kathmandu with his Sood Charity Foundation team, bringing food, blankets and other essentials. He has been on the ground in the worst-hit areas, meeting survivors in relief camps and assessing long-term needs. In an exclusive conversation, the actor spoke of the emotional toll of witnessing the tragedy firsthand.
“They need us ,all these little kids in these relief camps with their families but their parents are missing. It breaks my heart when I see all of them,” Sood said. He recalled meeting an eight- or nine-year-old girl named Christina who smiled and assured him, “Everything will be fine,” even as she followed him to his car. “I wish I could adopt her. I feel so helpless,” he added.
On social media, Sood shared photos with the children and wrote: “They lost their homes, their families, their childhood but together, we will help them find a new beginning. Nepal, you are not alone.” He has pledged that relief efforts will continue for months, not just weeks, and urged people worldwide to donate whatever they can.
Sood also praised India’s government for its swift assistance and called on corporations and ordinary citizens to step up. In a time of immense loss, his presence on the ground offers a powerful message of solidarity and hope to a nation struggling to rebuild.
