New Delhi: The final WhatsApp and Instagram messages of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who was found dead in Bhopal last week, have revealed her growing anxiety, emotional turmoil, and feelings of being trapped in the days leading up to her death.
Twisha, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, was discovered hanging at her husband Samarth Singh’s residence in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12. Samarth Singh, a lawyer, had met Twisha on a dating app in 2024, and the couple married in December 2025. An MBA graduate, Twisha had previously worked with a company in Delhi for several years.
In a WhatsApp exchange with a friend on May 7, Twisha expressed her inner struggles. “I have been under anxiety because I am sitting at home. I want to do something with my life. Shaadi makes your family, but you cannot stop working on yourself, for yourself regardless where you are,” she wrote. She cautioned her friend against hasty decisions, advising, “Shaadi ki khujli me shaadi mat karna. Soch samaj kar aage badhna,” meaning one should not rush into marriage out of mere impulse but proceed thoughtfully.

When her friend inquired about her well-being and expressed worry, Twisha replied that she was fine but missed home and her friend intensely.
In a separate Instagram chat, her distress appeared more pronounced. “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna,” she told her friend, urging them not to fall into a similar situation. She added that she could not talk much at the time and would call later when possible. Her friend responded with deep concern and affection.
Following Twisha’s death, her family protested outside Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s residence in Bhopal. They demanded a fresh post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi, noting that her body had remained at AIIMS Bhopal mortuary for five days.
Twisha Sharma’s father Navnidhi Sharma and cousin Ashish Sharma spoke to NDTV about their ordeal. Ashish Sharma described the family’s experience as one of horror, recounting how they rushed from Delhi and Ajmer upon learning of her death. He highlighted the multiple injuries observed on her body, the initial reluctance to register an FIR, and the repeated run-around they faced at various police stations, the women’s commission, mahila thana, Human Rights Commission, and other offices.

A preliminary post-mortem report attributed the death to hanging, yet the presence of multiple injury marks on the body has raised additional concerns. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate allegations of dowry harassment against Samarth Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, a retired judge. Twisha’s family has accused the pair of murder and voiced fears that their influence might impact the probe, as the accused have already obtained anticipatory bail.
