Bengaluru: Defending champions Bengaluru stormed to the top of the points table after registering a commanding 43-run victory over Chennai on Sunday, powered by a record-breaking total of 250 runs.
Chasing a daunting target of 251, Chennai — led by Ruturaj Gaikwad — were bowled out for 207, slumping to their third consecutive defeat. The absence of injured MS Dhoni continues to hurt the side.
Chennai’s batting collapsed early, with Gaikwad scoring just 7 runs and Ayush Mhatre managing only 1. Jamie Overton’s 37-run effort also went in vain.
Costly players fail to deliver
Chennai’s 19-year-old Kartik Sharma, who is earning ₹14.20 crore this season, was dismissed for just 6 runs by Krunal Pandya. Another high-priced player, Prashant Veer, scored 43 off 29 balls but failed to convert it into a match-winning innings.
