‘Acts Like These Are Punishable’: Mumbai Metro Operator MMMOCL Criticises Varun Dhawan Over Stunts Inside Metro | VIDEO

Mumbai: Actor Varun Dhawan, who is currently basking in the success of his recently released film Border 2, has once again found himself at the centre of a social media controversy after a video showing him performing pull-ups inside a Mumbai Metro coach went viral online. The incident reportedly took place when the actor chose to travel by metro instead of his car to avoid heavy traffic in the city.
Varun Dhawan had shared a video on his Instagram account from inside the metro, asking fans to guess which theatres he was heading to. However, shortly after, another clip surfaced on social media showing the actor attempting stunts inside the moving train, triggering widespread discussion. The video prompted a strong reaction from Mumbai Metro operator Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), which criticised the actor’s actions and issued a safety advisory.
Sharing the video on its official social media handle, MMMOCL wrote, “This video should have come with a disclaimer like the ones in your action movies, Varun Dhawan Do Not Try This on Maha Mumbai Metro. We get it, it is cool to hang out with friends inside our metros, but those grab handles are not for hanging.”

The operator further warned that such behaviour could invite legal consequences. “Acts like these are punishable under the sections relating to causing nuisance and/or damage to property given in the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002, attracting penalties and even imprisonment depending on the gravity of the offence. So folks, hang out, but don’t hang in there. Travel responsibly on Maha Mumbai Metro,” the message added.
The incident comes amid recent online criticism faced by Varun Dhawan over his expressions, particularly his smile, in the Border 2 trailer. Following the trolling, the film’s makers, Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Singh, publicly came out in his support.
“Varun has never done something like this before, but Anurag Singh was confident that we could make him do something that audiences have never seen him do. Varun is a brilliant actor, and he’s deeply passionate about his craft, so he has pulled off this role with deep passion, and his hard work is clearly visible on the screens,” Bhushan Kumar said.

Director Anurag Singh also defended the actor, saying, “I think people forget that he’s the same actor who’s done Badlapur after doing something like Student of the Year. I was stunned by his ability to switch. If I was thinking of onboarding Varun, I’d be going to the same Varun who could show that kind of range. I love his work in October, and I wanted that Varun in Border 2.”
