Gujarat Monsoon: Jambughoda Sees 8 Inches of Rain, 81 Districts Drenched in 24 Hours

Gujarat is witnessing the full onset of the monsoon season, with changing weather patterns over the past few days leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. As of 6:00 AM on June 21, 2025, rainfall was recorded in 81 districts across the state, with the heaviest downpour in Panchmahal’s Jambughoda, where 8 inches of rain triggered waterlogging, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). Other significant rainfall included 5 inches in Chhotaudepur’s Pavijetpur, 3.5 inches in Anand’s Petlad, and 2.7 inches in Halol. Additionally, Valsad’s Kaprada and Anand’s Tarapur recorded 3.0 inches and over 2.7 inches, respectively.

In the past 24 hours, other districts also saw substantial rainfall: Anand city recorded 2.0 inches, Tarapur 2.7 inches, Borsad 2.5 inches, Bharuch’s Jhagadia 2.4 inches, and Panchmahal’s Halol 2.7 inches. Across the state, nine districts received over 1 inch of rain, while 51 districts saw less than an inch, totaling 81 districts with recorded rainfall, per SEOC reports.

Five-Day Heavy Rainfall Forecast

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for June 21, forecasting heavy rain with thunderstorms in isolated areas of Kutch, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad.

June 22 Forecast

Rainfall intensity is expected to increase from June 22. An orange alert for very heavy rain has been issued for Navsari, Valsad, Banaskantha, and Sabarkantha, while a yellow alert covers Kutch, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Jamnagar, Mahisagar, Kheda, Aravalli, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand, Tapi, and Dang.

June 23 Forecast

On June 23, over 21 districts are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, and Valsad, with a yellow alert for Banaskantha, Patan, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Botad, Rajkot, Gir Somnath, Mahisagar, Kheda, Aravalli, Dahod, Panchmahal, Tapi, and Dang.

June 24 Forecast

Widespread waterlogging is possible on June 24, with an orange alert for very heavy rain in Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, and Valsad. A yellow alert applies to Kutch, Patan, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mahisagar, Anand, Bharuch, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Rajkot, and Botad.

June 25 Forecast

On June 25, very heavy rainfall is expected in Navsari, Valsad, and Devbhumi Dwarka, with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for Kutch, Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Surat, Tapi, and Dang, per the Meteorological Department.
