Alia Bhatt Shines at Cannes 2025 with Stunning Red Carpet Debut

Cannes: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt captivated audiences at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, making her highly anticipated red carpet debut on Friday. Representing L’Oréal Paris as a global ambassador, Bhatt attended the screening of The Mastermind, turning heads in a breathtaking Schiaparelli haute couture gown. The pastel-colored, off-shoulder fishtail dress featured intricate floral embroidery, perfectly complementing her elegant and poised appearance.
Bhatt kept her look understated yet sophisticated, opting for minimal makeup that highlighted her natural glow, paired with a sleek bun styled by Amit Thakur. She accessorized with a delicate paper fan, adding a touch of vintage charm to her ensemble. Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Bhatt posted a series of pictures with the caption “Hello Cannes,” tagging L’Oréal Paris, which is marking its 28th year as the festival’s official makeup partner.
Initially, Bhatt had planned to attend the festival’s opening ceremony on May 13 but postponed her appearance due to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. A source told the outlet that Bhatt chose to skip the event out of respect for the sensitive geopolitical situation, with her team monitoring developments to determine a suitable time for her debut. On Thursday, Bhatt quelled speculation about her attendance by sharing a glimpse of her travel essentials on Instagram Stories, captioned “I’m worth it” and “Off we go,” signaling her journey to the French Riviera.
Before her red carpet moment, Bhatt was spotted at Mumbai airport in a chic, casual outfit a white Gucci tank top, baggy jeans, and a beige trench coat drawing attention from fans and media alike. Her arrival in Cannes was equally stylish, as she was seen in a brown wrap dress with a front slit, building anticipation for her debut.
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival, running from May 13 to May 24, has seen strong Indian representation, with celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Janhvi Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, and others gracing the red carpet. Bhatt’s debut, however, stood out as a milestone, reflecting her growing influence in global cinema. Bhatt expressed her excitement prior to the event, stating, “There’s something absolutely special about firsts and I’m so excited to make my Festival de Cannes debut this year, an iconic celebration of cinema and self-expression. It is such an honour to represent L’Oréal Paris at the Festival with this year’s theme, ‘Lights, Beauty and Action’.”
