Deputy CM Shinde Pledges Justice in Beed Student Suicide Case Following Mother’s Appeal

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has personally reached out to the family of Sakshi Kamble, assuring them of strict action against those responsible for the harassment that allegedly led to her suicide. The call came after Kamble’s mother, Koyna Vitekar, wrote an emotional letter seeking Shinde’s intervention in the case.

Kamble, a college student from Beed, reportedly hanged herself at her uncle’s residence in Dharashiv district on March 14. According to her mother, Kamble took this extreme step after facing prolonged harassment from fellow students, with one allegedly photographing her and using the images for blackmail.

“I have spoken to the Inspector General of Police and Beed and Dharashiv Superintendents of Police. I instructed them to take action against the accused. The guilty won’t be spared,” Shinde told the grieving family during his phone call on Tuesday.

Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe also visited the Kamble family at their Beed home on Tuesday. She instructed local authorities to remove from the investigation any police officer who may have initially delayed the probe.

Gorhe further revealed that Deputy CM Shinde has directed Dharashiv Police to appeal against the bail granted to the accused and work toward getting it revoked.

“Beed Police have extended their complete support to the family. I instructed the Dharashiv SP that the police officer who tried to delay the investigation earlier should not be a part of the probe,” Gorhe told reporters following her visit.
