Rain Threat Looms Over IPL 2025 Final In Ahmedabad: Here’s What Happens If The Match Is Washed Out

Ahmedabad: With the stage set for the grand finale of IPL 2025 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, weather concerns are casting a shadow over the much-anticipated showdown.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast scattered thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall across multiple districts in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, over the next week. The rain alert has sparked concerns that the final, scheduled for June 3, may face interruptions or delays due to unfavorable weather.

According to the IMD, today could see winds reaching 30–40 km/h and thunderstorms across north, central, and south Gujarat, including districts like Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Kheda, Vadodara, Surat, and Valsad. Ahmedabad is expected to experience cloudy skies, lightning, and light showers, raising uncertainty over the smooth conduct of the IPL finale.

This comes just a day after rain delayed the qualifier match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, also held in Ahmedabad. With humidity levels rising and a stormy atmosphere settling in, there’s growing concern that tomorrow’s final may follow a similar path.

Rainfall Likely Till June 8 Across Gujarat

The IMD’s extended forecast indicates that intermittent showers will persist in Gujarat until June 8, particularly affecting north, central, and eastern-southern Saurashtra. Ahmedabad is likely to record maximum temperatures near 39°C, with gusty winds and scattered showers expected in the coming hours.

The final match’s closing ceremony, already scaled back due to the non-availability of military chiefs, features a musical tribute to the Indian Armed Forces by Shankar Mahadevan and his sons. However, the success of this celebration now rests heavily on how the weather unfolds.

With both teams chasing their first-ever IPL title, fans across India are hoping the rain holds off long enough to allow a full match. Match officials have prepared contingency plans, including the use of a reserve day if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
