Sydney : Following the serious injury Shreyas Iyer sustained to his left rib while attempting a difficult diving catch of Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey on Saturday, several of his family members have urgently flown to Sydney.
Shreyas has been admitted to the ICU of a Sydney hospital, where doctors are treating internal bleeding in his rib area to prevent any infection. He is expected to remain hospitalized for about a week.
Preity Zinta, co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings, has also expressed concern over Shreyas’s injury. Notably, Shreyas is not part of India’s T20 squad for the upcoming series against Australia, which begins on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Indian players who are part of both the ODI and T20 squads have already reached Canberra, where the first match will begin at 1:45 PM IST on Wednesday.
