Haryana Athletes Who Won 32 Of India’s 85 Asian Games Medals Receive Grand Welcome

Chandigarh: Haryana athletes who contributed 32 of India’s 85 medals at the Asian Games in Japan received a grand welcome at the Delhi airport on Monday. Haryana Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam, sports enthusiasts and family members were present to welcome the medal winners.

The 32 medals won by Haryana athletes included 14 gold medals, nine silver medals and nine bronze medals. Notably, India won only 21 gold medals overall, with Haryana’s athletes and players contributing 14 of them.

India finished the Asian Games with a total of 85 medals — 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze — and remained fourth in the overall standings, just as it had at the 2022 Asian Games.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is currently on a visit to Singapore. In a message, he congratulated the state’s athletes and players, saying, “With your hard work, discipline and determination, you have achieved the remarkable feat of winning 32 medals and brought glory to Haryana.”

Speaking briefly with the medal winners at Delhi airport, Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam said, “You and other emerging athletes will be provided with quality training facilities. Special attention will also be given to your nutrition and coaching.”
