Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Digs At Asim Munir Over India Ferrari, Pak Dumpster Remark

New Delhi : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday took a dig at Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, saying his Ferrari–dumper remark was nothing short of a confession of Pakistan’s failures. Everyone said that if two countries gained independence at the same time, and one country, through hard work, sound policies, and foresight, built an economy like a Ferrari, while the other is still in the state of a dumper.

Munir made what he himself described as a crude analogy while speaking at an event in Florida. “India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” he asked, in remarks that drew widespread trolling on social media.

Many internet users pointed out that his words made Pakistan look bad and amounted to an inadvertent admission of India’s progress outpacing Pakistan’s. To take matters further, Munir also reportedly issued nuclear threats during the same US trip. At a black-tie dinner in Tampa hosted by businessman and honorary consul Adnan Asad, Munir said, We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us.

India tore into Pakistan and Asim Munir, pointing out that nuclear sabre-rattling was Pakistan’s stock-in-trade and reinforced doubts over the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups. The government further pointed out the fact that Munir’s comments were made from the soil of a friendly third country, calling them highly irresponsible and a real danger to regional and global security.
