A festive boat outing turned fatal at Bargi Dam on Thursday after a cruise carrying approximately 30 tourists capsized in the backwaters of the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh.
The vessel was navigating the waters when powerful winds struck it without warning, causing it to lose balance and sink. Four people have died and four bodies have been recovered so far, while rescue teams pulled 15 survivors from the water. Several passengers remain missing.
Jabalpur Collector Raghvendra Singh confirmed that 15 people had been rescued and that search operations for 11 others were ongoing.

Emergency response teams, rescue divers, and local administration officials are working against time to locate the remaining victims. Those rescued have been shifted for medical attention.
Authorities believe the sudden change in weather conditions and the intensity of the winds were the primary factors behind the accident. The search and rescue operation continues.
