Adelaide: India suffered their first ODI defeat in Adelaide in 17 years. Australia successfully chased down the target of 265 runs with 22 balls and two wickets to spare.
With this win, Australia clinched the three-match series 2–0, taking an unassailable lead. India will now look to avoid a 0–3 whitewash. Virat Kohli’s second duck, along with captain Shubman Gill and Nitish Reddy’s flop performances, proved costly for India.
Despite Rohit Sharma’s 73, Shreyas Iyer’s 61, and Axar Patel’s 44, India managed only 264 for 9 in 50 overs. For Australia, Matthew Short (74), Cooper Connolly (61 not out)*, and Mitchell Owen (36) made key contributions.

On the bowling side, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Washington Sundar took two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj claimed one apiece. Nitish Reddy went wicketless, conceding 24 runs. Australia’s spinner Adam Zampa, who took four wickets, was named the Player of the Match.
