According to the organization, UFC flyweight Allan Nascimento passed away at the age of 34. The Brazilian fighter was discovered unconscious on Monday morning after allegedly having a heart attack while he slept, according to the New York Post.
Nascimento was found unconscious on August 3 and was declared deceased despite the efforts of medical professionals who arrived on the scene, according to a statement from the UFC. During this trying time, the organization sent its condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and loved ones.
At UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Horiguchi in June, Nascimento’s most recent bout ended in a split decision loss against Mitch Raposo. The fight occurred just weeks before his untimely death, according to the New York Post.
In 2018, the Brazilian rose to prominence on Dana White’s Contender Series. Despite losing to Raulian Paiva by split decision, he went on to gain opportunities in the UFC and amass a respectable record of four victories and two defeats. Throughout his UFC career, he also won two Fight of the Night bonuses.
Nascimento was a flyweight competitor who went by the moniker “Puro Osso,” which means “skin and bones.” He weighed 125 pounds and stood 5 feet 8 inches tall. He concluded his professional MMA career with an outstanding record of 22 victories and 7 losses.
Nascimento trained with former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at the renowned Chute Boxe gym in Sao Paulo. Oliveira posted a heartfelt homage on social media after the announcement.
Oliveira thanked Nascimento for the years they spent training, competing, and encouraging one another, calling him a brother, according to the New York Post. He declared that he would be regarded as a legend and greatly missed.
Nascimento was a well-liked member of the MMA scene and a reputable black belt in jiu-jitsu. After learning of his passing, fans and other boxers have continued to send tributes.
