Indian Women’s Spinner Sree Charani Creates History, Becomes the First Indian Cricketer to Achieve This Feat…

Dubai: India’s women cricketers have made significant gains in the latest ICC Women’s T20 rankings after winning the Asia Cup organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Left-arm spinner Sree Charani, in particular, has created history with a rating of 804 following her outstanding bowling performance in the final. She has become the first Indian cricketer, in either bowling or batting, to cross the 800-rating mark in the T20 format. With this achievement, she has further strengthened her position at the top of the rankings. India’s other spinner, Deepti Sharma, has also made a big jump to move into second place.

No Indian player had previously reached the 800-rating mark in T20 cricket. Mithali Raj had achieved a career-best rating of 780 points in 2011. Sree Charani has now surpassed that mark and achieved the unique distinction of becoming the first Indian cricketer to reach 800 rating points.

India, who won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time, have also strengthened their presence in the ICC Women’s T20 International rankings. In Sunday’s final, India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs. Sree Charani (Sree Charani) was the leading wicket-taker with four wickets for just 20 runs, while Deepti claimed three wickets for 19 runs.

However, there are only two Indians among the top 10 women’s T20 bowlers. Apart from Sree Charani, Deepti Sharma is the other Indian on the list. Deepti has made a significant leap in the latest rankings, moving up four places to second.

Sree Charani is now just two points away from Australia’s Megan Schutt, who holds the record for the highest-ever rating in women’s T20 cricket. Schutt reached 806 rating points in 2018, while Sree Charani currently has 804.

In the women’s T20 batting rankings, Asia Cup Player of the Tournament Shafali Verma has also improved her position. She has moved up from seventh to sixth place. Shafali has made progress in the all-rounders’ rankings as well, gaining five rating points to move up to 15th place.
