LSG vs DC: Delhi Turn the Tables to Beat Lucknow in Low-Scoring Thriller

Lucknow: Delhi Capitals staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in a low-scoring Indian Premier League clash on Wednesday. Lucknow were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs, while Delhi chased down the target with ease, reaching 145/4 in 17.1 overs.

The match turned dramatically after Delhi were struggling at 26/4 early in the chase, losing key wickets including KL Rahul, Nissanka, Nitish Rana, and captain Axar Patel. However, Sameer Rizvi (70* off 47 balls, 4 sixes, 5 fours) and Tristan Stubbs (39* off 32 balls) produced a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 119 runs to guide Delhi home.

For Lucknow, Prince Yadav picked up two wickets, while Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan took one wicket each.

Chasing Teams Continue Dominance

Interestingly, this trend continues in the tournament, where chasing teams have won all five matches so far. In each of these games, the team winning the toss has also gone on to win, making outcomes somewhat predictable in the early phase of the competition.

Lucknow’s Batting Struggles

Earlier, Lucknow managed just 141 runs, with Abdul Samad top-scoring with 36. Delhi’s bowling attack was led by T. Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi, who picked up three wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets, while Axar Patel added one to his tally.

Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant was involved in a bizarre run-out. He stepped out of his crease at the non-striker’s end, and the ball, after brushing bowler Mukesh Kumar’s hand, deflected onto the stumps, resulting in his dismissal. Although Mukesh Kumar did not claim a wicket, he delivered an economical spell, conceding just 17 runs in three overs.

Upcoming Match

The next match will see Kolkata Knight Riders take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday from 7:30 PM. Both teams lost their opening matches, so one side will register their first win of the season.
