India One Step Away from First Women’s Hockey Gold in 44 Years

Nagoya: India’s women’s hockey team entered the final of the Asian Games in Japan after defeating South Korea 2-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday.

India will face defending champions China in the final on Friday. China beat Japan 4-2 in a shootout after their semi-final ended goalless at 0-0.

India have a chance to win the women’s hockey gold medal for the first time in 44 years. Indian women were previously crowned Asian champions in 1982.

Ishika Chaudhary scored India’s first crucial goal in the 44th minute, while captain Salima Tete doubled the lead in the 48th minute.

India scored total 68 goals

The Indian women have scored a remarkable 68 goals in six matches at these Asian Games, while they have conceded just three goals in the tournament.
