After Archer Chikitha, Shooter Neeru And Archer Sahil Also Win Second Gold Medals

ㅤ
Nagoya: After Telangana’s 21-year-old archer Chikitha Rao Taniparthi won two successive gold medals at the Asian Games in Japan on Wednesday morning, Tuesday’s golden girl Neeru Dhanda also clinched her second gold medal in shooting. Archer Sahil Jadhav also won a gold medal. In all, India had bagged four gold medals in a single day by Wednesday afternoon.

In shooting, Neeru Dhanda is filling the void left by Manu Bhaker in Japan. Haryana’s Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has failed to make an impact at these Asian Games. But fellow Haryana shooter Neeru Dhanda has now won two gold medals. Partnering Keinan Chenai, she won the mixed trap team event gold with a score of 34 in the final. Qatar’s Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Ray Basil won the silver with a score of 32. The 26-year-old Neeru claimed her second gold in two days, having won a historic gold in the women’s trap event on Tuesday.

Twenty-five-year-old Sahil Jadhav from Satara, Maharashtra, also starred on Wednesday. After winning the mixed team compound gold alongside Chikitha Taniparthi in the morning, he teamed up with Haryana’s Kushal Dalal and Tamil Nadu’s T. G. Manirathnam to win the men’s team compound gold for India. They defeated China’s Liao-Liu-Shi trio 238-237 in an extremely thrilling final.

Chikitha-Sahil Qualify for the Olympics

Chikitha Taniparthi had earlier produced a remarkable performance. She won two gold medals on the same day on Wednesday. First, she joined hands with Preetika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam to win the women’s team compound gold. Chikitha then partnered Sahil Jadhav to win India the archery mixed team compound gold. With this medal, Chikitha and Sahil also secured qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. India have become the first country to qualify for the mixed team compound event at the Olympic Games to be held two years from now.
