Chasing a target of 170 runs in the semi-final, Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 45 runs in 9.5 overs. The Sri Lankan batters hardly looked like they were playing an international match. They started losing wickets from the second ball of the very first over. Their last three wickets fell off three consecutive deliveries. Abhishek Sharma took two of those wickets, while the other batter was run out.

Five players out for ducks, three run-outs in total

Five of Sri Lanka’s 10 batters were dismissed for ducks. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma took two wickets each. Washington Sundar claimed one wicket, while three Sri Lankan players were dismissed through run-outs.

Vaibhav scored 36 of his 38 runs through boundaries

Before that, the Japanese spectators also got to witness the fireworks of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 15-year-old teenage star scored 38 runs off 20 balls, hitting two sixes and six fours. As many as 36 of his 38 runs came through boundaries. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first.
