Indian Women Script History at Lord’s with Record-Breaking Test Victory over England

London: Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, the Indian women’s cricket team has scripted a glorious chapter in cricket history. Team India became the first women’s side ever to win a Test match at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, defeating hosts England by a massive 270 runs in the one-off Test on Monday.

Women Restore India’s Pride After Men’s Team Whitewash

Just two days after India’s men’s team, led by Shreyas Iyer, suffered a humiliating 0-4 T20I series whitewash against England, the Indian women’s team restored the nation’s pride with a historic triumph. They became the first women’s team to register a Test victory at Lord’s. Incidentally, the very first men’s Test played at the venue, back in 1884, was won by England against Australia.

Sneh Rana Stars with Four Wickets

The Indian women dominated the four-day Test from the opening day against the England side led by Nat Sciver-Brunt. After setting England a daunting target of 457 runs, India bowled out the hosts for just 186 in 62.5 overs on the final day to seal a memorable victory.

Wicketkeeper Amy Jones top-scored for England with 54 runs. For India, spinner Sneh Rana produced the standout bowling performance with four wickets, while Sayali Satghare, Kranti Goud, and Deepti Sharma claimed two wickets each.

Kranti Goud Named Player of the Match

Fast bowler Kranti Goud, who finished the match with seven wickets (five in the first innings and two in the second), was named Player of the Match. Just two days earlier, she had become the first woman cricketer to take a five-wicket haul in a Test innings at Lord’s, earning a place on the prestigious Lord’s Honours Board.

At the same historic venue, Yastika Bhatia also etched her name into the record books by becoming the first woman to score a Test century at Lord’s.

The four innings of the historic Test produced the following scores: India 285 in the first innings, England 170 in the first innings, India declared at 341/7 in the second innings, and England were bowled out for 186 in the second innings.

Sachin and Jay Shah Witness Historic Triumph

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and ICC Chairman Jay Shah were present at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground on Monday to witness India’s landmark victory and celebrate the memorable achievement of the Indian women’s team.
