India’s white-ball captains, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, have both moved up in the latest ICC rankings. Gill has strengthened his hold on the top spot among ODI batters after scoring his second double hundred (223*) against the West Indies in the Guwahati ODI. Iyer has climbed 18 places to enter the top 10 of the T20I batters’ list for the first time in his career.
The T20I captain scored his maiden century in the format in Lucknow on Tuesday (Oct 6). He remained unbeaten on 102 off 43 balls and guided his side to victory with eight wickets in hand.
Iyer seventh, Kishan still No.1 in T20Is
Iyer is now seventh in the T20I batting rankings, the third-highest among Indian batters behind Ishan Kishan (1) and Abhishek Sharma (2). Abhishek made a quick 61 off 28 balls in the Asian Games final against Pakistan and followed it with 21 off 10 balls in the first T20I three days later, which helped him keep his place. Kishan’s strong form keeps him at the top of the men’s T20I rankings.
Newly appointed Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan is third. England’s captain Harry Brook (4) and veteran batter Jos Buttler (5) follow, and South Africa’s Dewald Brevis is sixth. Phil Salt (8), Pathum Nissanka (9) and Tilak Varma (10) complete the top 10.
West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford, who scored 56 off 34 balls in the series opener, made one of the bigger gains. He rose 10 places, from 47 to 37.
Rashid replaces Abrar at the top of the bowlers’ list
In the bowlers’ rankings, Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed has lost the No.1 position to Adil Rashid after modest returns in the knockout stage of the Asian Games in Japan. Abrar went wicketless for 29 runs in the semifinal and took only one wicket in the gold medal match against India.
Abrar’s slide to second place gives Rashid the top spot for the eighth time in his career, more than twice as many times as any other bowler has held it.

Indian left-arm spinner Axar Patel has also moved up on the back of recent match-winning performances. He took four wickets in two games during the Asian Games and returned figures of 2/26 against the West Indies in the first T20I. He has jumped 16 places to seventh.
Gill remains No.1 ODI batter
Gill scored 334 runs in the three ODIs against the West Indies, which extended his lead over New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, who replaced Kohli at number two. Mitchell had dropped to third after Kohli hit his record-breaking 55th ODI hundred in the first match, but he returned to second after Kohli scored 29 and 0 in the remaining two games.
Elsewhere, West Indies captain Shai Hope, who scored a match-winning 162 in the final ODI, rose two places to No.6. KL Rahul, whose 129 came in a losing cause, climbed seven spots to No.10.
