Former British captain Ben Stokes, who is currently under fire along with pacer Gus Atkinson, will return to cricket tommorow. The 35 year old all rounder was named in the 15 match Durham squad against Northamptonshire in Chester-le-Street.
Stokes and Atkinson both came under major fire after the duo’s recent nightclub incident involving a Sarcens rugby club player after the end of the first Eng vs NZ test. The details are still speculative, but the offence was considered serious enough by the ECB that even Stokes’ remaining career came into question. His future is still uncertain with coach McCullum and Director of Cricket Rob Key both remaining tight lipped about the entire situation. Joe Root was named skipper in place of Stokes.
