RJD’s Last-Minute Announcement : Rs 30,000 One-Time Aid For Women, Free Power For Farmers

Patna : RJD leader and the Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday pledged a one-time financial aid of Rs 30,000 for women and expanded support for farmers if his coalition comes to power in Bihar. After we form the government, on Makar Sankranti (January 14) we will deposit Rs 30,000 for an entire year into the accounts of women under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, he said.

The Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, guaranteed by the RJD and Congress in their joint poll manifesto, aims to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women from financially vulnerable and backward communities if the Grand Alliance wins the high-stakes Bihar election. Projecting confidence, the Bihar Leader of Opposition declared that “the public is in a mood for change” and will throw out the ruling NDA.

If our government comes to power, we will provide a bonus of Rs 300 per quintal on paddy crops, in addition to the MSP. We will provide a bonus of Rs 400 per quintal on wheat, in addition to the MSP, he said. Reiterating key commitments from the Grand Alliance’s joint manifesto, Yadav said his party would restore the Old Pension Scheme for government employees.

The RJD leader also announced that Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) representatives would be given the status of public representatives and said the government would consider granting honorariums to PACS managers.
