‘NDA Will Win 160+ Seats’: Amit Shah’s Confident Prediction for Bihar Elections

With Bihar set to go to the polls for the first phase of its assembly elections on Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed strong confidence in the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) electoral prospects, predicting a comfortable and decisive victory.

In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Amit Shah stated, “The situation is very good. We are in a comfortable position. We will win more than 160 seats in Bihar.” When pressed for details, the senior BJP leader reiterated his forecast of a two-thirds majority for the ruling alliance. He also asserted that both the BJP and its coalition partner, the Janata Dal (United), would achieve an “equal” strike rate in the polls.

Addressing the NDA’s major poll promise of creating one crore jobs, Shah explained that the target would be met through a combination of government jobs, private sector opportunities, and self-employment initiatives. He added that a detailed plan for this would be developed over the next two years.

“For the past 11 years, we have worked to strengthen Bihar’s core infrastructure roads, bridges, and power plants. The foundation necessary for industries has already been laid by Modi ji,” Shah said, noting that several major industries are now taking root in the state.

Highlighting recent developments, he added, “Bihar now ranks first in the country in ethanol production, something that was never the case before. The fertiliser plant in Barauni has started operations, two large power plants are being built, and a massive PM Mitra textile park is also coming up. Nine industrial estates have been developed, with the smallest one spread over 550 acres.”

Shah also outlined a post-election strategy to promote cottage industries and self-employment through cooperatives and agriculture-linked enterprises. “We will also create a detailed plan for how much employment will come from industries and, accordingly, plan how many government jobs will be required to manage all this,” he concluded.

The first phase of polling in Bihar is scheduled for November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11. The election results will be announced on November 14.
