Panic at Mumbai’s CSMT Bus Depot After Suspicious Bag Spotted Amid Red Fort Blast Alert; Bdds Clears Hoax Scare

Mumbai: Panic gripped the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) bus depot in Mumbai on Friday after a suspicious bag was found lying unattended, prompting authorities to quickly clear the area. The scare came just days after a high-intensity car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort killed at least 10 people and left several others injured.

According to a police official quoted by PTI, a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team was rushed to the spot for a detailed inspection. The red bag was noticed around 4:45 pm, following which commuters and staff were asked to vacate the bus depot as a precautionary measure.

After a thorough check, the BDDS team did not find any explosive or dangerous material inside the bag. The alert was eventually declared a hoax, and normal activity resumed in the area.

Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai, has been on high alert since the Red Fort blast in the national capital earlier in the week. Security has been stepped up at key locations, with enhanced checks at transport hubs and busy public spaces.

Even before the Delhi explosion, agencies had busted a major “white-collar” terror module operating across Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh. Several doctors alleged to be linked to a Jaish-e-Mohammad network were arrested, and about 3,000 kg of ammonium nitrate was seized from Faridabad, underscoring the scale of the threat being monitored by investigators.
