Mumbai Weather Update: Partly Cloudy Skies, Humid Conditions Continue; AQI Remains Good

Mumbai: Mumbai residents continued to experience warm and humid conditions on Monday, with partly cloudy skies prevailing across the city. Temperatures in several areas crossed the 35-degree Celsius mark, making the weather uncomfortable, especially during the night due to increased moisture levels in the air. According to weather observations, the city is currently witnessing typical pre-monsoon climatic conditions.

Air Quality Stays In ‘Good’ Category

Despite the rise in temperature and humidity, Mumbai’s overall air quality remained in the ‘good’ category. Data from monitoring stations showed that pollution levels stayed under control in many parts of the city, offering some relief to residents amid the oppressive weather conditions. Coastal winds and changing atmospheric patterns ahead of the monsoon are believed to have contributed to the cleaner air quality.

Different Areas Record Varying AQI Levels

While several localities reported clean and healthy air, some areas in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region recorded slightly higher AQI readings compared to others. However, the overall air quality across the city largely remained within safe limits. Environmental conditions continue to fluctuate as the city moves closer to the arrival of the southwest monsoon.

Monsoon Expected Soon

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already indicated that Mumbai may receive the southwest monsoon earlier than its official arrival date. Pre-monsoon showers are also likely in the coming days, which could bring temporary relief from the ongoing heat and humidity affecting the region.
